Atmospheric Data available through DataHub

We’re pleased to announce the addition of several internationally recognised atmospheric observation datasets to the ESNZ DataHub. These datasets provide long-term, high‑quality measurements critical for climate, composition, and radiation research across New Zealand and Antarctica:

  • WRMC‑BSRN (Lauder) – Baseline measurements of surface solar radiation, ultraviolet (UV), and aerosols from the World Radiation Monitoring Center network.
  • WOUDC (Lauder) – Ozone and UV measurements contributed to the World Ozone and Ultraviolet Radiation Data Centre under the WMO Global Atmosphere Watch programme.
  • GRUAN (Lauder, Invercargill, Ross Island) – Reference-quality upper‑air observations of ozone, water vapour, and temperature from the Global Climate Observing System Reference Upper‑Air Network.
  • COCCON (Lauder & Antarctica) – Column measurements of CO₂, CH₄, CO, H₂O and HDO from the Collaborative Carbon Column Observing Network.
  • TCCON (Lauder) – High‑precision total column greenhouse gas measurements (including CO₂, CH₄, N₂O) from the Total Carbon Column Observing Network.
  • NDACC (Lauder & Arrival Heights, Antarctica) – Long‑term records of greenhouse and trace gases, ozone, aerosols, water vapour and UV, with some series extending back to the 1980s.

You can find out more about our research on greenhouse gases, ozone depletion, and urban air pollution here.
